Resources I use for Icelandic
Although Icelandic is a small language, there is a lot of interest in it and there are quite a few resources available.
- Colloquial Icelandic - I find this book a bit difficult to use as a beginner's resource.
- Beginner's Icelandic - a good book to use as a first resource to get to know the language.
- Teach Yourself Icelandic - I love the TY series and this book is no exception.
- Viltu læra íslensku - a series of thematic YouTube videos, very fun to watch, with subtitles, followed by a recording of a class.
- Íslenska fyrir alla - a free resource, aimed at speaking, there is no grammar explanation and the book is completely in Icelandic. I like to use this in combination with TY.
- Italki - many teachers, with differnt approaches. Try out a few and see who you click with.
- YouTube - several channels, one I would like to mention is Icelandic for foreigners, a smaller channels but with good videos.
- Netflix - there are a few series in Icelandic, Trapped is one of them.
