Resources I use for Italian
A few years ago I took Italian classes at school and one day, there was a give-away. Leftovers from previous orders were put on a table for anyone to take, for free! Needless to say I was in heaven for half an hour. I went through the Italian section, that’s why there is a long list here with books, but they are mainly beginner’s material. I like them not so much for the units, but for the grammar overview.
- Via della Grammatica - an extensive grammar, bringing you to a B2. The table of contents lists the topics, so you can go back and forth the way you like.
- Buongiorno! Italiaans voor beginners - an Intertaal course with basic lessons and a grammar overview.
- Rete! 1 - very much beginner's material.
- Italiano: pronti, via! - 24 units. The big plus here is the vocabulary list per unit.
- Magari! - 20 units, with exercises. What I like about this book, is that there are longer texts to read.
- Bescherelle - my go-to for all verb conjugations.
- Nuovo Espresso 1 to 5 - takes you up to a C1. My favourite resource and the one I use to up my level.
- Modern Italian grammar - a basic grammar book.
- Colloquial Italian - of course!
- Teach Yourself Italian - what else.
- Italki - a good resource for practising your speaking skills.
- Media and books - anything from tv, Netflix, YouTube, books, online newspapers ...
