Resources I use for Turkish
If you have read my Turkish language learning story, you know that the only resources I am using at the moment are Mr. Green Owl, yes, Duolingo, italki and TY Turkish, with the material that my italki teacher provides as my main resource.
When I was studying Italian a few years ago, the school offered the leftovers from their orders for free. I took a Turkish course (among other things), the last one in the list.
- Teach Yourself Turkish - of course, what else. A very good resource for any language you are learning as a beginner. I think this will be my first resource if I ever decide I need some more substantial grammar.
- italki: a fellow hyperpolyglot recommended her teacher and she really is good (Nezihe - in case you are looking for a recommendation).
- Colloquial Turkish - I do like this series, but not for all languages. I might use this book as a second resource, to complement TY.
- Turkish in 3 months (Hugo's Language Books) - a very good overview of the grammar and one I will definitely use after Duolingo.
- Assimil Le turc sans peine - as a fervent language learning, you must be familiar with this series, I have nothing more to add. I had a quick look at the course and I find it a bit difficult to begin with, so this will probably not be my go-to resource.
- Duolingo - no explanation needed.
- Türkçe Öğrenelim - I have books 1-3, but it is impossible to do anything with them without instructions from a teacher. So that was a bit of a bummer. It's now gathering dust ...
