Resources I use for Yiddish
Unfortunately Yiddish learners are not spoiled. There is hardly anything to find (or I must not be looking where I should look).
- Colloquial Yiddish - as always, for any language you are learning, there will most likely be a Colloquial or a Teach Yourself, if not both. I like this book and use it as my main resource. The audio is available on the website, which is a plus.
- In Eynem - I have recently bought this book, because it is supposed to be the best resource for learning Yiddish. It was rather expensive though ... But rightly so, the book is very good and if you are thinking about learning Yiddish, you might consider buying this book. It comes with audio and online exercises.
- Basic Yiddish, grammar and workbook - A short overview of the grammar points, thematic, with exercises (not much vocabulary, but that is not the scope of this book).
- Harry Potter - I bought a copy of the Yiddish translation, that I will read along with the audio (only the first chapter).
- Italki - there is a very good teacher, who uses both In Eynem and Colloquial.
- YouTube: Ikh lern zikh yiddish is good channel to follow if you like to combine textbook with other resources.
